Northwest Midcentury

The View Retreat was designed in 1962 by Northwest modernist Architect Ralph Anderson. In signature Anderson style, ceilings soar and floor to ceiling windows open up to the Puget Sound and Olympic mountains.

The family, with three children, wanted to transform the dated 60s house into a cozy, modern home that could mirror their busy lifestyle.

While respecting the original architectural vision, GCID set out to create a functional and comfortable space. Inspired by the tall trees and natural surroundings the house is furnished with strong, well-made modern furniture, warm durable fabrics and neutral textures.

Modern art anchors rooms with color and shape. The interior and exterior color palettes enhance the territorial views and ground the house in the lush landscape.
